I'd been living in NYC for two weeks and was at F.I.T. when two planes crashed into the Twin Towers...the chaos that ensued and the thoughts I was thinking as I walked home to my apartment in Morningside Heights are a blur, but the way the city came together as one in the days and weeks following 9/11 cemented I was home and New Yorkers were my people. For me this Charles Dickens quote says it best, “There are dark shadows on the earth, but its lights are stronger in the contrast.”
