Food for the Soul

Food for the Soul

There is one word that summarizes my time as part of the Bombe Squad and that is - wow! Volunteering for Cherry Bombe’s SF Jubilee was an incredible experience from start to finish and it couldn’t have come at a more perfect time. While I’m from SF, I haven’t lived here for 16 years and don’t know the community like I used to. This event was the antidote, as I was surrounded by talented, unique, creative and entrenched-in-the-culinary-world women. Volunteers, coordinators and participants were enthusiastic and engaged, networking and friend-making abounded.

A few highlights for me were meeting Liz Prueitt, founder of Tartine Bakery, Sue Conley, co-founder of Cowgirl Creamery and Kerry Diamond, editorial director of Cherry Bombe and one of my favorite podcasters. I was also able to reconnect with Alice Waters, who used to sport Loyale on the reg and sample the best ice cream I’ve had in a long while, Smitten Ice Cream’s stracciatella. All in all, I think everyone who participated left the Palace of Fine Arts feeling inspired and enriched...it was a food for the soul kind of scene and I was grateful to be a part of it.
